Anyone who loves Anthropologie will love Sydney and Thomas’s wedding! Every piece of decor was thought through with this amazing store as inspiration and the organic and natural elements of the venue space. The entire day was full of emotion, but in the calmest and softest way possible. Sydney was intimidated and stressed by the idea of coordinating a large wedding party; so her and Thomas agreed to just have her sister Tory and his friend Greg stand up with them. This not only lifted a huge weight off her shoulder, but it also allowed for an intimate feel to the day that may have otherwise been missed with their large guest count.
Sydney and Thomas invited their close friends to join them early in the day for getting-ready festivities (golf for the boys, mimosas and catching up for the girls). I think everyone was relieved to have their only responsibility be to enjoy themselves, and it really kept the focus on celebrating Sydney and Thomas’ marriage in the presence of loved ones. We also love the pictures Ashley was able to capture of them in the park- Sydney was so happy –

Sydney’s mother passed away several years ago, and was represented in so many gentle ways – from the subtle tulips (her favorite flower) to the heirloom jewelry. Keeping her traditions alive was important to Sydney. She always loved the story of how the groomsmen “kidnapped” her mom after her wedding ceremony, took her to a dive bar and made her take a celebratory shot of whiskey before returning her to the reception – so one of her best friends arranged for this to happen! Sydney said “it was one of the most meaningful and fun moments of my life, toasting my mom’s memory and our new marriage with my best friends, in my wedding gown in the middle of a tiny, crowded bar”.
Another one of my favorite moments of the day was when the bride’s sister gifted a custom bracelet to Sydney. When Sydney’s mom used to write her letters she finished them by signing with the word “always”, so Tory had her handwriting printed in gold and attached to a gold chain anklet as a reminder of her love.
