Trying to recreate those swoon-worthy Engagement pictures you see on Pinterest?  Tired of seeing the same locations for engagement photos in your city? Solution –  plan a destination engagement session! You may have to spend a little more money to fly your photographer to your dream location, but your photos will be unique and exactly what you envision because you are in control of the location!

We are teaming up with Danielle Harris from Danielle Harris Photography to share some tips on successfully planning a destination engagement session!  If you are planning a local wedding, a destination engagement session is a more cost effective way to have photos together in exotic locations. Check out this gorgeous engagement session

A New Location:

A destination engagement session will give you and your groom a chance to bond with your photographer at your dream location. If you’ve already planned a beautiful vacation prior to the wedding day, why not bring your photographer along to document your travels and this special time in your life. If you are having a destination wedding, you could pick a location that is similar to the wedding day location or go for something completely different for some variety. Remember to choose a location that has a beautiful back up plan in case of bad weather.

Pamper Yourself:

Since you are getting taking the time to go to a special location, make sure you have vendors lined up to get your hair and makeup done for your photos. Also, think about what kind of look you are going for with this location to pick  the perfect outfit. This bride used Rent the Runway, which is a great idea to save some money!  Think of complimenting colors for your fiance as well!

Having a Destination Wedding?

Many brides plan a trip to the destination wedding location before the big day for a site visit and to wrap up any last minute planning. Bringing your photographer along will give the wedding pro a chance to find the optimum light and backdrop locations to best capture the precious moments of your wedding day. Sending out save the dates and posting photos of the location where your wedding will take place will give guests attending a little sneak peek of what’s to come on the wedding day.

From Danielle Harris Photography:

We have a special place in our heart for the beautiful Spanish moss oak trees on Jekyll Island. Lorien and Jeff had the most dreamy and romantic destination engagement session. We traveled to St Simon Island  in Georgia and we couldn’t have been swooning any more over the beautiful landscape.  This sweet couple totally rocked out their engagement session style with a beautiful Carol Hannah dress from rent the runway for Lorien and Jeff looked so handsome in his khaki and island knit shirt. These two had such a romantic and sweet chemistry that made documenting their love story a dream!

We love when our clients opt for a destination dear to their hearts for their engagement session! We’ve been fortunate enough to travel the world following our couples in love to document their story. Each location inspires us in a different way and we can’t wait to see what the next spot holds.

If you’re looking for a little inspiration to plan your destination wedding, elopement, or engagement session – We are excited to introduce Destinations by Design – a wedding inspiration site for the the fine-art bride.
