I am so excited to finally be sharing the full gallery of Caitlin and Jeff’s Purdue wedding on the blog! Literary inspired details are everywhere in this wedding. From the cute book shaped invitations, to the famous literary couple table names, to the groom’s boutonniere that included a page from Pride & Prejudice. Caitlin is a high school English teacher and has always had a love for old books and classic love stories, so when we met a year before her wedding, she immediately knew that she wanted her wedding to take on a vintage literary theme.
All of the tables were identified by a literary couple instead of a number, and the centerpieces included stacks of books, teacups, and flowers. We also used a variety of quotes and poems throughout the day, including a dramatic head table backdrop that also featured their silhouettes. This custom silhouette of Caitlin and Jeff was a common element throughout the wedding, from invitations, doors into the ceremony, cocktail napkins, to the laser cut cake topper.
We’re honored this wedding was featured on Glamour and Grace! It was impossible to narrow down our favorite parts of the day to only a few; but one sealed it for us as we look back at this day: their first moment together on wedding day. They decided not to do a first look in order to catch their true reactions at seeing each other for the first time during the ceremony. (As a side note, seeing Jeff’s face as Caitlin walked down the aisle was another of my favorite memories of the day, and SB Childs did a perfect job at capturing his reaction – despite Brock almost being run over by a guest in the aisle.) Instead, they decided to have a moment before the ceremony on either side of a door so that they could still talk and hold hands without seeing each other. We were not in the room for this moment, but the images were SO emotional and Caitlin said, “It was only for a few minutes, but the emotion, excitement, joy, and anticipation we both felt during this moment cannot truly be described. We are so grateful that we took the time to cherish a few seconds alone before the start of the ceremony. And even though our photographers were there to capture this moment, they made it feel incredibly intimate and personal with their hushed voices as they brought our hands together; Jeff and I really did feel like we were the only two people in the room, sharing one final memory together before we became husband and wife”. Que the tears!!
